1 Description It occurs as fine, white powder, soapy to the touch, usually having a slight, tallow-like odor.

(B) The retention times of the major peaks of the sample solution correspond to those of the standard solution, as obtained in the assay.
3 Solubility It is slowly soluble in cold water and in cold alcohol; readily soluble in hot water and in hot alcohol.
4 Acidity Between 1.00–4.25 mL of 0.020 N sodium hydroxide is required (0.28%–1.2% as stearic acid).
5 Acid value Between 196-211.
6 Iodine value Not more than 4.0.
7 Alcohol-insoluble substances The resulting solution is clear or not more than slightly opalescent.
8 Loss on drying Not more than 5.0%.
9 Assay
(A) Stearic Acid
(B) Sum of stearic acid and palmitic acid
(A) Not less than 40.0%.
(B) Not less than 90.0%.

PACKAGING

MOLSTEAR® SOD is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed, light-resistant containers.
